2289 Melinda Ne Drive, Atlanta
North East Atlanta and North Decatur have several neighborhoods some are relatively small and will be grouped into larger neighborhoods close by. All are relatively close to Emory University and the CDC, and many of the people that live in this area will be connected in some way, either directly or indirectly, with these two large Atlanta institutions.
I-85 runs along the western edge of this part of Atlanta and will serve as a general guide to what one might consider North East Atlanta and North Decatur. There are four primary traffic corridors that come to mind, namely N Druid Hills Rd, which is bisected by Briarcliff Rd. and Clairmont Rd.
On the south side of NE Atlanta is Lavista Park, Woodland Hills, Martin Manor, and Lindridge. Woodland Hills and Lavista Park are in unincorporated Dekalb County, therefore, are part of the Briar Vista Elementary School District. Martin Manor and Lindridge fall inside the City of Atlanta and part of Garden Hills Elementary School District. As you travel north on Briarcliff you will enter Sagamore Hills, an area determined larger by the Elementary School of the same name. Sagamore Hills is made of smaller subdivisions, but for the purposes of understanding the areas of Atlanta, one can see this as a general area consisting of smaller subdivisions. The lots are large - typically 1/2 acre or more - and at one time these neighborhoods were entirely 50s and 60s ranch homes. There are many wonderful examples of mid-century modern still around, but the less architecturally appealing ranches are being renovated or replaced with much larger homes that fit nicely on the larger wider lots available in this area. Prices for unrenovated ranches typically start in the high 300s to low 400s, while nicely renovated homes sell from the high 500s to 800s. Newly constructed homes range in price from the 800s to over 1 million.
Another close-by neighborhood is Oak Grove. Oak Grove is a popular choice for professionals with children because Oak Grove Elementary has a great reputation is often rated very highly. Homes in the Oak Grove Elementary school district can sell for 50-100k more than surrounding neighborhoods.
*Please Note: Atlanta Metro has two different Multiple Listing Services (MLS) - GAMLS and FMLS. Most listed properties will be included in both MLS databases - which is why users of this site will often see two nearly identical listings for the majority of properties. However, occasionally a property will only be listed in one or the other MLS database. By including both MLS systems in the search results, users of our website are more likely to see every available property, even if it is only listed in one of the MLS databases.
