Buckhead
Buckhead, the city’s famous
district with both northeast and northwest addresses, is an area where
districts and neighborhoods overlap.
Brookwood Hills, Peachtree Hills, and Garden Hills are each
distinct neighborhoods, but they are all claimed by Buckhead, as are
In the 1910s and `20s, Buckhead began to lure
wealthy Atlantans who wanted more seclusion than was offered by such
residential showplace as Druid Hills and
Northwest of central Buckhead and about 8
miles north of downtown is Chastain Park, named for former Fulton County
Commissioner Troy G. Chastain.
The popular park has a golf course, athletic fields, a crafts
center, and an art gallery.
Its best-known feature is its outdoor amphitheater, which holds
nearly 6,000 people and presents some 60 popular and classical concerts
between the spring and fall.
The streets surrounding the park feature many fine homes.
